Need annual backflow testing to stay compliant with your local water authority? Bizzy Bee Plumbing's state-certified backflow technicians test, repair, and replace backflow prevention devices on residential and commercial properties — and we file all required paperwork with your water utility on your behalf.
Backflow happens when contaminated water reverses direction and flows back into the clean drinking water supply — and it can be caused by something as simple as a water main break or a sudden pressure drop. To prevent it, water utilities require properties with irrigation systems, pools, fire suppression systems, and commercial water connections to install a backflow prevention device and have it tested annually by a certified tester.
Bizzy Bee Plumbing's certified technicians handle backflow testing, repair, and replacement for residential and commercial properties throughout the Triangle. We test the device, fix anything that fails, and file the completed paperwork with your water authority — so you stay compliant without lifting a finger. Call 919-423-7595 to schedule your annual test.

Backflow is the unwanted reversal of water flow in a plumbing system. Normally, clean water flows one direction — from the public main into your home or business. When pressure drops suddenly (a water main break, a fire hydrant being opened, a burst pipe) or when downstream pressure exceeds supply pressure (backpressure from boilers, pumps, or elevated tanks), water can siphon backward — pulling fertilizer from your irrigation lines, chemicals from your pool, or contaminants from industrial equipment into the public drinking water supply.
A backflow prevention device is a mechanical assembly installed at the cross-connection that stops this reversal. Federal, state, and local regulations require these devices on most properties with irrigation systems, swimming pools, fire suppression, boilers, or commercial water service — and require them to be tested annually by a certified tester to confirm they're still working properly.
Backflow prevention device tested and certified by Bizzy Bee Plumbing — paperwork filed with the water utility same day.
Most water utilities require annual backflow testing and will send you a notice each year telling you when your test is due. If you don't submit a passing test by the deadline, the utility can issue fines or shut off your water service. Our certified backflow technicians arrive with calibrated test gauges, perform the test in 15–30 minutes per device, and either certify it as passing or repair it on the spot if it fails. We then file the test report directly with your water utility — you don't have to mail anything or follow up.
If your backflow device fails the annual test, don't panic — most failures are caused by worn internal components like check valves, springs, seats, and rubber O-rings. Our trucks are stocked with rebuild kits for the most common devices (Watts, Febco, Wilkins, Apollo, Conbraco), so in most cases we can rebuild your device on the same visit, retest it, and submit the passing report — all in one trip.
When you install a new irrigation system, swimming pool, or fire suppression line, your water utility will require a backflow prevention device sized correctly for the application. Bizzy Bee Plumbing installs all the major device types — RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone), DCV (Double Check Valve), PVB (Pressure Vacuum Breaker), and SVB (Spill-Resistant Vacuum Breaker) — for both residential and commercial use. We pull all required permits and coordinate inspections with your local jurisdiction. If your existing device is corroded, frozen, or simply too old to rebuild, we'll replace it with a modern equivalent.
Commercial properties often have multiple backflow assemblies — one for the building's domestic water, one for fire suppression, one for irrigation, and sometimes additional devices for boilers, cooling towers, or process water. Each device requires its own annual test and its own report. Bizzy Bee Plumbing handles multi-device commercial testing for offices, restaurants, medical facilities, retail, industrial properties, and multi-family buildings — with consolidated reporting and after-hours scheduling to avoid disrupting your business.
You almost certainly need annual backflow testing if your property has any of the following: an in-ground irrigation system, a swimming pool or spa with auto-fill, a fire suppression system, a boiler or hydronic heating loop, a commercial water connection, a well that's also connected to municipal water, or any system that could create a cross-connection between non-potable water and the drinking supply. If you've received a notice from your water utility about a backflow test deadline, that's the signal — give us a call and we'll handle it.
We've built our reputation one job at a time — with honest work, fair prices, and a genuine commitment to keeping your water safe and your property compliant.

Scheduling was quick and easy, and they were able to come out the very next day, which I really appreciated. They performed a thorough inspection using a camera and took the time to clearly explain everything they found in a way that was easy to understand. The technician was kind, friendly, and very professional throughout the visit. They also made sure to clean up after the work was done, which didn’t go unnoticed. Overall, it was a smooth, stress-free experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and highly recommend their services. Erica RickerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kudos goes to Dustin Williams and Bizzy Bee Plumbing team! As we had a non emergency plumbing issue with our house, ridgid inspection camera did pinpoint the location of the root cause of this problem. Everything went smoothly according to the plan that Dustin proposed, and at the end of his visit, he proposed for an "action plan" which could potentially prevent this event happened again. As the floor removal is very expensive (hence I personally do not like slab construction), this preventative action will allow us to get along with our house. Although ridgid camera inspection costs quite a bit, we are fully appreciated its capability. As we hope not to call for another help for them, you would never know ;-) If that would be the case, we have no hesitation to call them for help! Thank you Bizzy Bee Plumbing.
