Sewer line backed up in Durham, it is usually not something you want to keep playing around with.

One toilet clog is one thing. A tub filling up when the washer runs, toilet bubbling, or water sitting at the cleanout outside is a main sewer problem until proven otherwise.

Durham CIPP Cured in Place Pipe Lining

Pipe lining is used when the sewer pipe still has enough body left to hold a
liner. The liner goes inside the old pipe and cures there, so the pipe gets a
new inside wall without replacing the whole run.

Pipe Lining Durham NC

A sewer can be stopped up from roots, grease, wipes, broken clay, old cast iron, a low spot, or a piece of pipe that has moved. From the outside it all looks about the same. Inside the pipe, it is a different story.

A sewer problem is not always obvious at first. It might start with a slow drain, a toilet that gurgles, or water backing up after running the washing machine. Those signs usually mean something is happening farther down the sewer line. Finding the cause early can often prevent a much larger repair.

Trenchless Pipe Lining and CIPP Repair Durham NC

Most sewer problems don’t start with sewage in the house. They usually start with something small that gets ignored. Maybe the downstairs toilet is the first one to drain slowly, or the shower bubbles when the washing machine empties. By the time every fixture is backing up, the sewer has normally been having trouble for a while.

When a Sewer Line IN Durham Needs to Be Replaced

We've repaired sewer lines across Durham since 2011, and no two jobs are exactly alike. In older neighborhoods we regularly find clay pipe with roots growing through the joints. In homes built later, we sometimes find settled PVC or damage from previous construction. Until the pipe is inspected, nobody knows which repair is actually needed.

Sewer Camera Inspections Durham

One of the first things we do is run a sewer camera through the line. The video tells us much more than guessing from a clogged drain. We've found broken clay tile hidden under healthy-looking lawns, cast iron that has rusted almost shut from the inside, and lines that were cleared several times even though a cracked section kept catching toilet paper. Seeing the pipe helps us recommend the repair that actually solves the problem.

Our Process

Pipe lining is one option we offer, but we don't recommend it unless the sewer qualifies. Before a liner is installed, the pipe is cleaned, measured, and inspected from end to end. If the line has collapsed, is badly offset, or has sections that are missing, we'll tell you that instead of trying to force a lining job. When the pipe is a good candidate, lining can restore the sewer while avoiding unnecessary digging through driveways, patios, sidewalks, or established landscaping.
